Domain Transfer Guide

Learn how to transfer domains between registrars while keeping your hosting active.

Important Notes

WebHostNet currently provides hosting services only. For domain registration and transfers, use your preferred domain registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.)

Transferring Domain to Another Registrar

If you want to transfer your domain to a different registrar while keeping hosting with us:

Step 1: Unlock your domain

At your current registrar:

  • Log into your domain control panel
  • Find domain lock/transfer lock settings
  • Disable the lock

Step 2: Get authorization code

  • Request EPP/Authorization code from current registrar
  • Save this code - you'll need it for transfer

Step 3: Initiate transfer at new registrar

  • Go to your new registrar
  • Start domain transfer process
  • Enter your domain name
  • Provide authorization code
  • Complete payment

Step 4: Approve transfer

  • Check your email for transfer approval
  • Click the approval link
  • Wait 5-7 days for transfer to complete

After Transfer: Update DNS

IMPORTANT: After transfer completes, update nameservers at your new registrar!

Set nameservers to:

text
ns1.webhostnet.in
ns2.webhostnet.in

This ensures your website continues to work with WebHostNet hosting.

Transfer Restrictions

You cannot transfer a domain if:

  • It was registered less than 60 days ago
  • It was transferred less than 60 days ago
  • It's within 7 days of expiration
  • There are pending legal disputes

Will My Website Go Down?

No! As long as you keep the same nameservers (ns1.webhostnet.in and ns2.webhostnet.in), your website will continue working throughout the transfer.
